International Women’s Day! Celebrating womanhood

Today is yet another day to celebrate womanhood! It’s the International day for Women; celebrated on the of 8th March all over the world. This year’s theme is #pressforprogress.

Many factors affect the growth and progress of women and limits them from achieving their full potentials. While some of these are quite obvious, some are not as glaring! Today, I’m not going to lay the blame at the feet of the menfolk or the society (those are the easiest and most obvious positions to take!).

Women need to look inwards and ask honestly – how do I limit my progress? You probably wonder how you can sabotage and act as a derailer in your own progress journey. Anytime you doubt your ability, or your competence – you place a limitation. When you doubt your self-worth and feel so inadequate even with your God-given talents and abilities – you sabotage yourself! When you feel the next person is better than you or you just feel you need to have more to be called successful, then you act as a clog in your own wheel of progress.

As we celebrate another International Women’s day, I encourage you to rise above self-inflicted limitations and aspire to the height that you have been destined to achieve. Be less tough on yourself (Yours truly is guilty of this!), celebrate your achievements and milestones – (no matter how little they seem to you ). Strive to be better than you were yesterday and be assured that you are enough! You are enough to rise above limitations, enough to go out and make those dreams come true. As my children are oft to say among themselves when they want to be cut some slack – “free me”! It’s time to free yourself so that you can #pressforprogress.

Happy women’s day everyone! Do something special for yourself today.

Yours Truly,

Bolajoko
